To σερί των νικών του Κώστα στην Ινδία σταμάτησε ο Ιταλός Davide Sanguinetti στον 1ο γύρο του Chennai Open.
O Ιταλός πήρε τη νίκη σχετικά εύκολα με 6-4 6-3 σε λίγο περισσότερο από μία ώρα.Τα break έκαναν τη διαφορά στο ματς με τον Κώστα να έχει 4 χαμένα.Αντίθετα ο Sanguinetti πήρε τα 3 από τα 6.Κατά τα άλλα στα ίδια επίπεδα κινήθηκαν στα ποσοστά του σερβίς αλλά και στους άσσους, με 6 για τον καθένα.
Παρόλα αυτά η πορεία στο τουρνουά ήταν επιτυχημένη με τρεις νίκες και μία ήττα συνολικά.
